Just stopped by to say Thank you! Your videos are great and i'm watching you almost on a regular basis. seems like you stopped doing them a year ago, which is a shame. But you have my appreciation!
Great review! Did the games met your table enough to keep'em your collection? Did you try Imperium: Horizons?
A bit late to the party but thank you very much for this video. Do you remember, by any chance, if the game box can hold the cards when sleeved?
I find this solo variant to fiddly and too much two-handed. So i created my own quicker one, where you still can predict what the bot will do. It's quicker even if i play against 2 bots.
Can you share the solo variant that you enjoy playing? Bgg link.
Great video. This video is three years old. Do you still play Pipeline?
I agree with you on deckbuilders. So boring. This one is the exception though! Also baseball highlights though this is much better.
Thank you so much, this was pretty fun. The video might be years old, but I got excited with you watching the battles. Thank you for the teachings and the awesome camera job, it couldn't have been easy.
I though you knew Mad Max not to compare it with Fallout.
thanks for the video I would defenatly add some nuances about the rules as : There are a tons of questions that are not answered anywhere, some situations with cards and "combos" that creates questions.. that not a single FAQ would give an answer... And that's the main big issue i have with this game. It needs a FAQ in the rulebook to explain those situations with cards and contradictions that need to be clarified elsewere than on BGG...
more like unboxing with overview.. The title was implied of a mini review. Couldn't find it. Maybe it was too small to be noticed. Thanks anyway
Doesn't a review, as mini as it might be, should include your opinion about the subject/object of the "so called mini review" ..? Thanks anyway
is it good now?
Can you make one for the new actions from expansions?
Thank you for this review. I am Absolutely not a solo player but I learn games by playing through them a couple of times before bringing a game to game night. Lately, I have been trying to use the AI or bot player to make learning them easier. I don’t like having to pay attention to 2 players when trying to learn it. But the AI should be pretty simple to use so it doesn’t get in the way of playing my own turn or I may as well just play it 2 players. I could not understand the AI for this game by the rules so I went looking for a video. Yours was the first (and last.) Thank you for doing this video. This AI is way more complex than it needs to be so I’m done with AI for this game. When you said not all the rules are in the rulebook or on the Automa Board, I was done.
Got this on clearence for $16 at MM.
6:10 you should link chains, it's tricks category. or i'm wrong?
Thanks for the list! Any chance you can post your tweeked "On Mars" solo version?
Wow, im impressed! This is by far the best (unfortunatly partial) playthrough of BA i saw on YT. Explaining all the rules was perfect. Execution almost flawless (10:20 move through astroid field & 23:30 hall didnt get point for resource). Keep it up! One question: if Hal is removing damage tokes with a 3 pip dice, does he clear up the entire action before moving on to the next? So if the action he is removing damage from has 2 damage does he remove 1 and go to the next action or clear 2 and then move on?
Thank you! I really appreciate the honest review. (Subscribed!)
Come back! We miss you dude 😔
My
6:30 No. The Event is only resolved in the Resolution phase and you aren't in that phase. 7:43 No. OR you can deploy. You can only do 1 of the 3 options in Action Phase, that's why they are labeled ABC and not 123. 8:00 buying the Progress card means option A and therefore not B nor C 10:00 so you bought a Progress card. That ends your Action phase. 11:00 NO YOU DON'T. Deploy workers is action phase option B. Action phase has already ended. 11:31 NOO You can only deploy 1 worker. Check the rulebook p17 B, will you? You must wait a turn before placing a second. And you bought a progress card. 12:43 you already bought a card and cannot place a second one in this phase. 14:18 AI Turn is done?? In the solo variant it's not a turn, but an effect of your (illegally) placing a worker on a military. Certainly not the AI's turn - AI has no turns in any strict sense. 16:50 you're effectively skipping 4 Resolution phases by now. You're not playing Nations at all. Sorry but I have do downvote and unsubscribe. Have a nice day.
You’ve got your solo and multiplayer rules mixed up. You don’t roll the AI dice after deploying a worker on a building. He played it right.
@@stevenlopez2731 whatever rocks your boat baby. I sold it long ago.
You give your opinion on things on your channel?
Absolutely. It's fairly niche, and I get occasional flack, but pretty rare. Not many people know more about solo tabletop gaming than me. Nerdy, but true.
If you had to choose anachrony or trickerion... Which is better?
Anachrony. Much more straightforward automa opponent, easier to remember how to play.
Hi, great video, what If I finished my move on Pedro's building, can I do the actions from this building?
Do you think this is better than anachrony solo?
As a fellow very heavy gamer, do you think Ark Nova is worth it just for solo play? I tend to prefer games like Gaia Project and On Mars.
At this point, as I've not looked to play it in over a year now, I'd say no. I'm always thinking about On Mars and Gaia Project, Mage Knight and Too Many Bones, etc. But Ark Nova is more of a multi player consideration for me now.
Hi! Just found your channel. Do you have a fan variant you prefer? (Pathfinder or Sandra?) Curious to know if those variants make On Mars a worthy buy just for solo. Thanks for the review!
The fan-made variant was my preferred, but the Alien Invasion expansion is the must-have for official solo awesomeness, IMHO. Thanks!
what an endearing intro sheet lol.
Will u ever going to play this co op mode again? We justfinished our Fenris campaign , i know we’re late but we love scythe and the campaign and now its so hard to find playthroughs of the co op mode
I've dialed back my content quite a bit, but Scythe rocks and I'm very much looking forward to the new Scythe game coming out this year!
wow great channel subbed. can you compare these to the popular games like marvel champions and others for deck games ? thanks
I was so tempted by this game. I already have Tekhenu. But I prefer an Uwe Rosenberg solo. This has far to much in this solo. I love my copy of Kanban EV but never gets played as the solo is far to much. Now Architects has a nice solo if has to have ‘bot’
36:07 You don't need a silver. Having already unlocked one formula with a fire experiment, you get a discount: either one level on fire mastery or one material.
Looking forward to GWT New Zealand.
I never played the original GWT because there was no solo mode and just haven't gotten around to getting the 2nd Edition...now there's Argentina. Do you see a difference or can I basically get the same experience (and solo mode) with either Argentina or the 2nd Edition printing?
The 2nd Ed. would likely require its expansion to get the depth that Argentina comes with. I played a lot of the fan-made solo with the original GWT, it was medium weight feeling. Argentina definitely adds to the weight.
@@boardgamerants Thank you! Much appreciated.
Great seeing you enjoying board games! I understand what you mean about the theme. It’s there but many worker placements tend to blend in a little.
Thanks, I still play quite a bit, just getting super picky with game purchases and enjoying many more plays per game.
@@boardgamerants I’m feeling the same. We both have a great collection of board games that deserve to be played.
It's not a point salad, but it is an action salad. I quite enjoyed it, but more in multiplayer than solo. The bot seems too strong, and in order to have any change of winning, you need to rush the game end, which feels a bit off and less satisfying, since you would avoid the more complex, big scoring tasks.
Just started this one as my first non tutorial one. I think. It seems different than the bland first scenario. I'm unsure what to place at r3 se, do I just gather there to advance or do I need to explore it for an ROI? I'm here to learn anyway 🤣
Have you tried this again in the past 4 years?
I've played Scythe, but not the campaign again.
@@boardgamerants what has brought you back to it 4 years later?
This was super honest. I appreciate what you have posted.
After 1 playthgrough I am very much into this game. I am somewhat new to gaming so the idea of many shallow mechanics still comes across as complicated and deep..to me at this time. I am sure as I grow and get more accustomed to standard gameplay mechanics this may get boring. But for now, it is a sweet spot for my interests and abilities.
Thank you for the review!
Yes, the artist of endless winter is "Da Mico" (or sth like that), who is the one that illistrated all of the north sea, and west kingdom games.
Looking forward to your report on Ultimate Railroads. I can't decide to get that or Snowdonia Master Set! Have you played Snowdonia? Any thoughts compared to UR? Thanks!
I did have Snowdonia Master Set. It was fine but too many rules goofs/look-ups/errata, especially for a "master" set. I was disappointed. It almost had TOO many variants, all of which required hunkering over yet another rule set. For me, Ultimate Railroads (well, Russian Railroads which I've at least played) is the more enjoyable game. Rules are super clean, which I appreciate.
@@boardgamerants thank you for the reply, that'll help with my decision!
I have late pledged Endless Winter. Expecting it to arrive "soon" (in Europe). Not sure whether I will buy Ultimate Railroads. Depends on how the solo plays. btw, I don't have any topics on the soundquality 🙂Thanks for the views.
I know it could be better (sound), I don't even mic up, it's just my phone with sometimes the heater blowing in the background... :) I'm lazy, but thanks! I just finished up a game of EW, has a Dune Imperium feel to it (which I'm a fan of). Hope your game gets to you soon!
Hi, how Ultimate Railroads plays solo (Russian Railroads + German Railroads) can be seen on slickerdrips channel. He did a playthrough of it three years ago.
Gtk, I appreciate the heads up. My copy, it seems, is missing a punch board, gotta take it back/exchange. Suck.
@@booch7767 Thanks for the tip !
I just got Ultimate Railroads too. Was unfamiliar with it but really enjoy seeing that engine ramp up. Wish there it weren't "just" beat-your-own score but terrific.
Yeah, I enjoy an actual AI opponent more in general, but this game still rocks, looking forward to the deeper experience with all the expansion/modular stuff!
It is difficult to understand what you are saying, maybe try to record a little more clearly?
Thanks for the heads up.
I saw it pass by on 12:57 :-)
How to do manage to play 3 or 4 games simultaneously 🙂? On the fence for SpaceCorp 2025-2300AD. Any toughts (solo play) from your side ?
I've heard SpaceCorp's expansion adds a lot to the solo. Ventures, I believe? I remember liking it, lots to set up and longer games, though. Wasn't too heavy/complex.
@@boardgamerants Yes, it's called Ventures, and gets a high rating on BGG (8.4). Don't mind the long setup, if you can have a long game as well 🙂 Thanks for the reply
